The Fort Worth Zoo is one of the top attractions in Fort Worth. With wonderful exhibits (and new exhibits in the works), fun events, and educational camps and programs, there is something for everyone to love.

Upon arrival, this is a great time to take inventory of the zoo crowd level. If they are directing you to overflow parking…be prepared.  Spring Break, school holidays and Half-Price Wednesdays can get crowded.  Also, the zoo has a fantastic field trip program, so during the school year, it is FULL of school field trips.  These usually begin in the Spring and buses commonly arrive around 9:30 am and depart around 1:30 pm. Feel free to call the zoo and ask how many field trips will be in while you visit.

Fort Worth Zoo for the win: You can bring a cooler or ice chest to cut down on lunch costs! If you need it, there are food options for purchase and you might even get a great view of the crocodile at Crocodile Cafe! If you chose to eat outside or pack a lunch, there is a lovely picnic area with many tables.  The bathrooms in the food court area and super convenient and even have a family restroom.IMG_7250

A stroller or wagon can be really helpful when carting around your little people, food and drinks. However, they are not necessary. Rental strollers are available for a small fee.

This zoo is packed with things to do. Exhibits range from the African Savannah, to Texas Wild! There are plenty of mammals and reptiles to see, and even a carousel and train ride.  The petting zoo was a big hit with my daughter because she was able to touch. Feeling  goats, a pig, and a few ducks was a blast. If your kid loves to get up and close, this is for you!

Fun fact: the Zoo has many different programs and events you can participate! I have heard great things about their preschool program, but have not yet attended.  When my littles are a bit older, we plan to check it out! For a little something different, be sure to check out Beastro, Boo at the Zoo and Zoo Run.
