What? Whites Branch Park, City of Haltom City (playground and splash pad!)
Where? 5290 Western Center Blvd, the south side of Western Center just west of Denton Highway (377)
This park has so many different options and amenities is it sure to appeal to a wide range of ages and abilities.
When we arrived, it was great to see enough parking and even a restroom. We did not use the bathroom, but it was great to know it was there just in case. I just love a park where I don’t have to worry about busting out my emergency potty. The park sits back a bit from Western Center, and has a lovely pavilion if you would like to rent. At only $10 an hour (minimum of 2 hours), it makes a great party location! Visit Haltom City Recreation Center (located at 4839 Broadway Ave) in person to make your reservation.
My kiddo had a great time at this park, playing mostly on the swings and spinning structure. There are swings for little kids, bigger kids and even a tire swing. This park’s climbing structure is definitely geared toward older kiddos (probably 3 and up, just my guess) and is so much fun! Stairs, slides, logs to walk across, and tunnels are all here and are great ways to get out some energy while practicing those gross motor skills. The actual play area is not fenced in, but the park sits a ways back from the parking area and street which is helpful.
Be sure not to miss the Spray park from Memorial Day to Labor Day! It is a nice size and can accommodate quite a few kids. This can sure get busy on a hot Saturday afternoon, but is still totally worth a trip. According to Haltom City, the “hours of operation are 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., seven days a week. Hours will be subject to change due to water restrictions, weather, or unforeseen repairs.” Don’t forget the sunscreen, a change of clothes, towels and a wet bag. Forget the water toys? Don’t worry, the biggest hit at the spray park is usually an old plastic cup from your backseat.
Bring your walking shoes (or stroller) to enjoy the walking paths, too!
