One Monday morning, my kids and I decided to meet their cousins for a little adventure with water and candy in Roanoke, Texas. We were not disappointed!

Version 2

Located north of Fort Worth off of 377, Cannon Park was our first stop. This cozy little park is tucked back in a lovely area of Roanoke. Tennis courts, basketball courts, sand volleyball courts, a skate park, walking path (0.34 mile), and a large open area for play make for a great park.  But the best parts for my young kids were the playground and splash pad!

The playground equipment is the perfect size for younger kids. I actually got to sit back and watch my kids play without worry! The playground equipment is not covered, so I recommend an early morning visit to beat the summer heat.

When we arrived at 9:00am, there were no other people in sight. The girls were able to be the first to turn on the splash pad! Although not enormous, there were still plenty of water features to play with when the crowd started to pick up.

We played until 10:45am and then ate lunch at the picnic tables under the covered pavilion. After the kids dried off a bit on the playground, we packed up and headed a few minutes down the road to the cutest candy shop around, Hey Sugar. Located in Roanoke, the Unique Dining Capital of Texas, Hey Sugar is within walking distance of many delicious lunch/dinner spots if you don’t pack a lunch for the park.

This lovely little candy shop has all kinds of delicious treats! Be sure to check out the hundreds of candy choices, yummy ice creams, nostalgic candy, old-fashioned sodas, root beer and chocolate creations. There is definitely something here for everyone!
